The first major leg of the Araneta Center Redevelopment is the construction of the Gateway Mall. The five level Shopping Center will run from the LRT 2 Araneta Center Station at Aurora Boulevard and connect to the northern gate of Araneta Coliseum. It will have Gross Floor Area of over 80,000 square meters including three levels of basement parking.

The mall will have a gross leasable area (GLA) of over 40,000 square meters to house a complex mix of carefully selected retail, food and beverages, and entertainment outlets.

The mall is integrated with and designed to work in synergy with the Araneta Coliseum, to take advantage of the many major sporting and entertainment events that are held in the world renowned arena.

A special feature of this Mall is the multi-level "Urban Plaza" with base in Level 1, a large a lush indoor garden which provide a relaxed and welcoming feel to the shopping experience in this hectic and busy metropolis.

The Ground floor will house selected food and retail outlets, ranging from quick service/fast food type at the Aurora Blvd, end to outdoor casual dining near the Araneta Coliseum. The Ground floor has multiple access points from Aurora Blvd., Malvar St., Gen Roxas St., the basement parking and the Coliseum Circle.

Level 1 (one level above ground) will be anchored by a supermarket on the Aurora Blvd. end and will have two level Department Store (Levels 1 and 2) at the Coliseum end. Level 2 connects directly with the LRT concourse. Level 3 will house the Food Court and will have a number of casual and fine dining restaurants. Level 4 will be the entertainment floor with 10 state-of-the-art movie houses.

Besides the great accessibility provided being located in a transportation hub, three levels of basement parking will provide 570 parking slots for the car riding public. A direct connection to the LRT 2 line gives added comfort and convenience to commuters. An interim connection will enable commuters to transfer from LRT 2 to the MRT 3 Araneta Center Station in Farmers Plaza.

The Gateway Mall is just part of a much larger mall which will eventually envelope the Coliseum and connect to Farmers Plaza and the MRT 3 Station at EDSA.
