Americans Belle Almojera of Florida and Michael Mashburn of California banner the top picks in Day 2 semi-finals of 2019 World Slasher Cup 9-cock Invitational Derby today, Feb. 1 at the iconic Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Almojera, runner-up in last year’s WSC 1 with 7.5 points, posted two remarkable victories, while Mashburn and his Filipino partner William Mamba tallied two hard-earned wins.

Aside from the quality fights, sabong aficionados get a chance to win a 32” LED TV in the daily raffle courtesy of sponsor Powertrac. So far, the Jan 29 winner from the audience at the Big Dome was Mr. Billy Salvador; the Jan 30 winner was Mr. Don Carlo Isaquirre. Audience members simply have to visit the Powertrac booth at the coliseum’s Green Gate, register, and download the app on their phone to be included in the raffle.

Also with two points coming into the semis: Defending champion and sabong idol Patrick Antonio, Marvin Rillo, and 2018 WSC 2 champ Rey Briones – each with two entries; Eman Fiscalizer, Ben Mondragon/Lester Edoc, Team Alcala, Jimmy Junsay, Mark Calixto, CPB group, and Dicky Lim.

“The target in the semi-finals is to register that elusive 5-0 (win-loss) slate and hopefully a perfect nine points in the Grand Finals on Feb 6,” said PitGames CEO Manny Berbano, host and producer of sabong progam “Tukaan” on TV 5 (Sundays, 8am), and supporter of derby host Pintakasi of Champions.

The World Slasher Cup is known to cockfight aficionados around the world as the Olympics of Sabong. Prohibiting henny cocks from the competition, the WSC is known as a fair ground for fighting and the toughest, most prestigious title to win.

This year’s sponsors include Thunderbird, Emperador, and Powertrac; supported by PitGames Media, and Sabong Pilipinas (which airs every Sunday, 8am, at ABS-CBN Sports + Action TV).

Day 3 of the semi-final rounds unfolds tomorrow, Friday (Feb. 2), headed by participants including Nathan Jumper of Mississippi.

Gamefowl breeders and sabong enthusiasts can also prepare their fighters early for the World Slasher Cup second edition coming this May, from the 27th to June 2, 2019.
