It has been said that traveling changes one’s views about different things. For some, it helps them know themselves better; for others, it gives them a perspective on other people and cultures. Traveling, however, also gives people a chance to see the world they live in—its beauty and the threats that confront it.
Hoping to give the public the opportunity to travel responsibly is the Eco Travel Fair, the biggest of its kind in the country, happening at the Gateway Mall Activity Area from July 30 to August 4, 2018.
Organized by the ABS-CBN Bantay Kalikasan in partnership with the Araneta Center, the fair features booths that sell environment-friendly products, a travel agency and an app that arrange eco tour packages in destinations guided by Bantay Kalikasan, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.
Former Environment secretary Gina Lopez and broadcaster Korina Sanchez-Roxas also have booths of their eco-friendly products.
The culmination of the fair on Saturday will include talks on the preservation of the ecologically diverse Verde Island Passage, the hazards of plastics on coral reefs, and traveling for a cause; a training on how to become an urban earth warrior; and some fun games. Sanchez-Roxas and Pinoy Big Brother alumni are also scheduled to grace the event.
